Analyzing the structure of a paragraph was fun using Legos. Students had to design a structure symbolic of the parts of a superb paragraph, build the structure, analyze it, and write a paragraph about a superb paragraph using superb paragraph elements!

Studying Phantom Tollbooth involved map making and lesson learning. Students drew Milo's travels, the characters he met along the way, and the lessons he learned from each.

Fifth-grade students worked hard to storyboard each chapter of Tuck Everlasting adncreate a mural of the events of the book. Presenting each storyboard while moving the characters around the mural added to everyone's understanding of the novel.

After finishing Tuck Everlasting, students created a mandala comparing themselves to a character in the book. Using symbols, drawings, and text, they analyzed character and learned about another culture's way of celebrating meaning in the process.
